IC Information

Name: Hidari Shoutarou
Age: Mid-twenties
Canon: Kamen Rider W
Canon Point: N/A
Physical Description: One and Two
Canon Abilities: N/A
Possessions: His clothing, and among it a sizable collection of fedoras - including one that belonged to his mentor, a motorcycle, and a suit of metal armor similar in function to police armor with the metal cable spools but with a decidedly different design inspiration.
Companion: N/A

Personality: Shoutarou describes himself as a 'hard-boiled' detective, trying to project the facade of a man who is cold to the world - too cool to show emotions. In reality, Shoutarou fails at keeping this facade up, and winds up getting emotionally involved in most of his cases, thus causing those who know him well to jokingly refer to him as 'half-boiled'. This desire to be a hard-boiled detective stems from his negligence causing the death of his mentor, private investigator Sokichi Narumi.

Shoutarou has a sharp mind, and is rather emotional and intuitive. He gets very invested in the plights of his clients, as he's pledged to stop anyone who would make his city of Fuuto cry. Seeing anyone who is in trouble start to cry is enough to push Shoutarou over the edge, causing him to go to any length to defend them, even at risk to himself. He's very much a white knight in that sense, eager to come to the aid of others. He's got a great sense of pride - he aims to be a great man, a man worthy of wearing his mentor's fedora, and has recently felt that he's reached that level of worth.

In addition, Shoutarou can get very, very attached to people once he gets to know them well enough, shown by how badly he took his mentor's death as well as how deeply involved he'll get into his cases for his clients. It's also shown by how strong his bond is to Philip, who he has been charged with protecting by Sokichi as he died. He's also rather protective of Akiko, the daughter of Sokichi who came to take over the detective agency sometime shortly after Sokichi's death.

Shoutarou is also an absolute sucker for a pretty woman, abandoning logic and common sense to do all he can to help and/or impress a lady. This includes turning the hard-boiled act up to 11. However, he does it rather obviously, and is himself oblivious to how hamfisted he's being. However, he's yet to get a negative reaction from it from anyone other than Akiko.

Outside of work, Shoutarou is pretty laid-back. He still tries to keep up the hard-boiled demeanor, but like with his work, he fails at it here, too. Most times that he's not doing work, he's usually kicking back in the office, hanging around with Akiko and Philip, or out and about, hanging out with one or more of his local friends. He enjoys detective fiction (of course), and is shown to own a copy of The Long Goodbye. At one point, Akiko gets him into a period drama series about samurai quite by accident. Contrary to his attempts to stay cool, Shoutarou is very animated in the way he expresses himself, almost cartoonish in the way he reacts in extremes to things that shock him or catch him off-guard. He's also got a fondness for ramen.

OU/AU: AU

History: Much like his original self, Shoutarou was a troublemaker in his younger years, then eventually got his head on straight and decided to become the apprentice detective to Narumi Soukichi. Just in this universe, there are no Kamen Riders, so replace that with bending. Shoutarou learned discipline in bending from Soukichi, as well as metalbending in addition to training as a detective. Instead of being in Fuuto, they worked in Republic City, and instead of fighting the Museum Syndicate, they dealt with their vaguely unnamed counterparts. He passes himself only as an earthbender out in public, keeping his metalbending ability a secret.

Soukichi still died in the attempt to rescue someone, but this someone was not Philip. However, his death still weighs heavily on Shoutarou due to his own negligence being a very signifcant factor in it. In Soukichi's stead, Shoutarou operates the Narumi Detective Agency by day - solving cases for people that are too minor for the police, or that people simply do not trust them with. By night, however, he operates as a vigilante - the Joker, a masked, motorcycle-riding metalbending armored hero who aims to be the wild card that criminals never expect, and aims to punish them for making the people of Republic City cry.

However, life hasn't been glamorous lately - mostly lost pet cases on the detective front, and the Avatar's arrival kind of kept him from getting any real good traction as Joker, so faint whispers of him between maybe a couple dozen people are all he has in terms of reputation. On one hand, he can't really complain - Korra's done a good job with things, but he can't help being more than a little jealous.

Suggested Nationality: Earth Kingdom
Why?: His tendency toward stubbornness and facing things head-on; as well as in canon, one of the powers he brings to Double is metal.
Bending: Earthbending
Subset: Metalbending - I'd like to ask for him to get a waiver to have it from the start, given his history.

In Character Information
Name: Hidari Shoutarou
Series: Kamen Rider W
Age: Somewhere in his 20's.
Birthday & Astrology Sign: March 12, Pisces
Arcana: The Fool

Previous Game Backstory:
Shoutarou's canon history, though only up to his canon point applies.

Shoutarou had a rough time while in Trans_9 - he came in to find his world had been destroyed, and that his thought-dead partner was alive, and despite Philip's promise during their tenure together that Shoutarou was his only partner, Philip was both alive and had taken on someone to fill in for Shoutarou as the physical body for Double. There was initial friction there, as well as a fair bit of punching on Shou's part - he felt rather betrayed and, well. Punching each other is generally how Shou and Philip sorted out their differences. His new life aboard Stacy, the Meatship, involved doing missions for the good of the multiverse, and generally surviving day to day. He established himself as a detective-for-hire as he was used to doing, and joined the ship's security team. He got to know various crewmembers during his time there, and formed some fairly tight bonds with some of them. Other heroes like himself, everyday people, artificial beings, magical ones - there was a pretty diverse group on-board Stacy. Missions generally involved solving problems for particular planets or settlements - poignant ones involved actually stopping someone in the crew from doing something dumb, punching out a dragon, fighting off a giant army of space bugs as a whole crew, dealing with fighting killer robots with no powers, becoming a magical girl, and punching out a supergenius madwoman villain.

Eventually, the crew began to learn that the people ordering them around were kind of enormous assholes and not to be trusted - so the crew as a whole staged a rebellion in two parts, and with some trouble, suceeded in driving them out. It's in the calm after this that Shoutarou is pulled.

AU | Previous Game Differences (List form):
-Kind of bitter at Philip for going back on saying he was his only partner.
-Has learned to cope better with being Philip-less, as when Philip was repodded (player dropped), his friends aboard the Meatship knocked him back to his senses.
-Has become a bit better at dealing with the death of comrades, thanks to the deaths of Superman, Howard, Punchy, and various others during the course of his time on the meatship.
-Has a better appreciation for things generally taken for granted, like decent food and a functional wardrobe.
-Likely dislikes lost pet cases even more than he did.
-Slightly less bad at the whole love thing.
-Is still trying to find Wakka's damn blitzball.

Canon Standing: The beginning of Episode 49, when he's out shopping for Mick's cat food.

Personality:
Shoutarou describes himself as a 'hard-boiled' detective, trying to project the facade of a man who is cold to the world - too cool to show emotions. In reality, Shoutarou fails at keeping this facade up, and winds up getting emotionally involved in most of his cases, thus causing those who know him well to jokingly refer to him as 'half-boiled'. He's also got a fondness for ramen.

Key Personality Differences: Shoutarou's more subdued than usual, more melancholic. Where he fought for Fuuto and maybe the earth as a whole at the most, now he's used to fighting for all of reality, which weighs him down a lot more. Oddly enough, he's took strides to becoming closer to the hard-boiled man he idealized. It's a subtle change, as he's still showboaty and dorky.

Canon Powers: Shoutarou is shown to have a good grasp of hand-to-hand combat, as well as being able to work out tactics on the fly, as in the penultimate episode of the series, Shoutarou faced off with the final big bad of the series (Utopia Dopant) with nothing but his wits and a small collection of gadget robots. Shoutarou managed to reasonably damage the Utopia Dopant and blow up the laboratory he was working in. In this instance, though, Shoutarou was pushed to the edge by his guilt and fear of losing his partner, Philip.

Using a device known as the Lost Driver, Shoutarou can use the Joker Gaia Memory (A Gaia Memory is a small USB drive-like device that grants the user specific powers) to form Kamen Rider Joker. Shoutarou plugs his Joker Gaia Memory in the belt's Memory slot and activates the transformation sequence by pushing the Memory slot away from the center of the buckle.

Shoutarou has two other Gaia Memories on-hand, as well as the Double Driver. The Double Driver is a two-memory version of the Lost Driver that he normally used with Phillip to become Kamen Rider Double. He keeps it on-hand, holding on to a hope that Philip will someday come back.

The Joker Gaia Memory (Physical) improves Shoutarou's fighting capability in hand-to-hand combat, and grants the ability to do an energy-enhanced flying kick and high-powered punch Maximum Drive. If used with the Double Driver, it gives Double similar fighting capability, enhanced by Philip's Soul Memories, which enhance the abilities of Shoutarou's other two memories as well.

The Metal Gaia Memory (Physical) improves Double's defense and strength while sacrificing speed, granting Double an etendable metal staff for melee combat. The staff has a Maximum Drive slot in it.

The Trigger Gaia Memory (Physical) gives Double a pistol for ranged combat, while high on power, it's low on defense. The pistol has a Maximum Drive slot, and the memory used with it determines the kind of projectile fired.

Shoutarou has a fourth Gaia Memory that he picked up during his time in Trans_9 - Skull. This one acts as a hybrid of Joker and Trigger, granting similar hand-to-hand capability as Joker, as well as the same sort of pistol as Trigger. (Physical)

In theory, Shoutarou could use the Metal and Trigger memories with the Lost Driver to become Kamen Rider Metal or Trigger, but he's never shown doing so.

Canon Characters
--
Wally West/The Flash | DCAU
Pros: Easy to get CR with 'cause friendliest dude ever, speed is a useful skill if someone's telling him what to do.
Cons: Super speed is BROKEN AS ALL HELL, having to deal with the whole secret identity thing in a setting where that is less than ideal.

Ginia Rosentia | Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Pros: Blacksmithing skill, useful for other fantasy setting characters, possibly useful for the current setting? Skilled at farming, mining, diplomacy.
Cons: Had questionable luck with making her stick in previous games.

Gina Thomas | Fallout: New Vegas
Pros: Tech-head, diplomatic, medical skills. Generally good at getting shit done.
Cons: Never have been able to make her stick in a game.

Rose of Sharon Cassidy | Fallout: New Vegas
Pros: BECOME SPACE COWGIRL. Good fighter, prone to pointing out bullshit where she sees it.
Cons: Nothing big, though she's pretty abrasive as a character.

Mora Bascht | Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Pros: Outgoing character, mechanical skills that will be immediately useful in the setting (robot mechanic!), used to being part of a military.
Cons: Need to rewatch Stardust Memory

Vi | League of Legends
Pros: Good fighter, likely easy to get CR with.
Cons: Apping from League of Legends ahahahaha

Rock Light | Mega Man [Archie Comics]
Pros: Good fighter but pacifistic, diplomatic, some mechanical skill, friendly as all hell.
Cons: Can be difficult to play at times.

Lina Inverse | Slayers
Pros: Easy to play in general, been wanting to put her back in a space setting for years now, will get to keep Mazoku-centric spells.
Cons: Nothing jumping out at the moment

Utsusemimaru/Utchy | Voltasaur Team Kyoryuger
Pros: Putting super-noble/loyal samurai guy in an even more unfamiliar setting without his friends can be interesting.
Cons: How the hell do I get around recharging the Beast Batteries without the Spirit Base's/Bragigas' charger?

Hidari Shoutarou | Kamen Rider W
Pros: Good fellow who adapts well, has generally been good at getting CR.
Cons: Really need to rewatch W before I play him seriously again.

Brainstorm | Transformers [IDW Comics]
Pros: One of the best negative-CR gathering characters I've played, being a snooty argumentive jerk is always fun, having him be the first/an early Cybertronian the NPCs have to deal with is hella tempting.
Cons: Already sending him to Deadzone, not sure if he's one I can play in two games.

Cheetor | Beast Machines
Pros: Former overeager kid character turned slightly grumpy warrior. Good at being objective.
Cons: Being yanked out of his element has been the poor kid's life, probably need to rewatch Beast Machines.

Miko Nakadai | Transformers: Prime
Pros: DUDE SPACE ADVENTURE FINALLY, SUCK IT JACK.
Cons: Miko...is Miko and likely would fall into a hard depression after reality hits.

Grovy + Rubilax | Wakfu
Pros: ADVENTURE IN A NEW WORLD AW YEAH
Cons: ...wait what about Eva I CAN'T LEAVE EVA BEHIND D8

OCs/Canon OCs
--
Aldray Hamm + Feron | DnD/Hope's Aegis
Pros: Friendly and helpful dude with built in sarcastic asshole in form of talking sword. Has medical skills thanks to being a cleric! In theory has farming skills, but was never all that good at them. Cannot be perfectly copied due to campaign-specific Chosen One status.
Cons: Writing out his powers section will make me cry. History, too. God help me if there's a setting section.

Celine Powers | Superhero OC/X-Men setting OC
Pros: Fairly diplomatic character, good with kids. Essentially an Earthbender in terms of abilities.
Cons: Lots of writing involved and making up/detailing her history, would need to make her proper icons.

Jared | M.A.G.I.
Pros: Very protagonist-y, would jump at the chance for a space adventure. Good character growth exercise.
Cons: Most likely the one to fall hardest into the DWRP Hates OCs trap, though not sure why I think that.
thisclinchesit: (Just One More Question...)
This is an entry that is pretty much Shoutarou's notes about what information he's gathered from the Tower and its inhabitants, via exploring or interaction with other characters. He got this notebook from his roommate Fletcher, who had several in his trunk upon arrival. This will be updated frequently!

Cut because this will get terribly long eventually. )

You've reached Hidari Shoutarou of the Narumi Detective Agency - the better one, under the pool hall. I can't answer at the moment, but please leave a message and I'll get back to you when I can.
